Transfer News: “Monster” Kim Min-jae eyed by Tottenham Hotspur in January
According to the Turkish news outlet Fanatik (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur have identified Fenerbahce centre-back Kim Min-Jae as a target for the January transfer window. He was involved recently for his side as they won 4-0 against Rizespor in the Super Lig.
Nicknamed “Monster“, he has played 18 matches this season and has earned four clean sheets in the process. He has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe due to his consistent performances in the heart of the defence.
Juventus and Porto are keen on getting his services and will pose serious competition for Tottenham. Min-Jae has received a valuation of £16million, which is a decent sum, and Daniel Levy could decide to push for him considering Cristian Romero’s hamstring injury.
A Monster signing?
His transfer could depend on how the situation would develop at the back ahead of the winter transfer window. Davinson Sanchez has been disappointing for the past few months but has looked solid recently, especially against the game against Norwich City. He has arguably failed to reach the potential he showed at Ajax until now, but the Colombian could earn himself a spot under Conte if he keeps up this trajectory.
Joe Rodon has been impressive for the Wales national team but has failed to garner minutes at N17. The Italian boss sees him as a backup to Eric Dier at the back, which has reduced his chances of getting into the side.
Ben Davies has taken over the left side of the three-man system while having a crucial role offensively and defensively. He has been the more “attacking” centre-back of the three as he drives forward to assist by giving numerical superiority in different phases.

However, with Cristian Romero being currently injured, we may need to bring in someone to help us maintain our squad depth. Japhet Tanganga has also taken his chances but we did lose Toby Alderweireld in the summer and shifted to a formation that utilizes three centre-backs.
The Fenerbahce ace could be what we need to help us maintain squad depth and strength, but it remains to be seen whether we would sign him with competition from other clubs. Just 25 and standing at 1.90m in height, he would be a strong presence in the backline and would give us a number of years at N17 if we can tie him down to a deal.
