MK Dons boss Liam Manning challenges Tottenham Hotspur loanee Troy Parrott to get better

MK Dons boss Liam Manning has challenged the Tottenham Hotspur loanee, Troy Parrott to get better and replicate the early promise he had shown. The latter had started his life at the loan club very well but has cooled down due to several reasons.

Parrott joined Dons on a season-long loan deal this summer and had a great start to the campaign. He has made 19 appearances and has four goals and assists each in the process. He has failed to follow up on his early showings where he excelled for the club.

Speaking to the club’s media (h/t MK Dons official website), Manning has raised the stakes for the loanee, asking him to recapture his form. However, the former acknowledged the disruptions in regular game time, which could have affected him in failing to be constantly switched on.

“I told Troy his challenge is to maintain it and turning potential into performance consistently, day-in and day-out. That comes down to hard work resilience, focus and playing with discipline. Troy is still early on his journey. He’s 19, which isn’t an excuse for how his season has gone.”

“He had a great start, had a slight dip for various reasons, he was away on international duty, then he had the Covid protocols and a couple of other bits have been little set backs and challenges. I have no doubts Troy will get back to the level he showed at the beginning of the season.”

Inspiring words?

These words would be a piece of advice for the 19-year-old to kickstart his form once again. The way the Dons boss addressed the situation shows how he wants the Spurs loanee to improve himself for the better. Previously, he advised the striker to be more disciplined after getting a red card against Leyton Orient.

It is good to see how actively the club and the manager are involved in helping the Tottenham youngster. He could not have asked for a better surrounding to develop himself, and should utilise this opportunity to the maximum.

Furthermore, how the Irishman would develop in this phase would determine whether he has a future at N17. The forward would need to motivate himself and show his parent club that he is one for the future.

We should not be concerned as the Dons boss said how the centre-forward showed glimpses in his recent outing and training sessions. That could hopefully be a sign of things to come.
