Tottenham Hotspur to battle Mourinho and Roma for Norwich City ace Max Aarons
According to the Italian publication Corriere dello Sport (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur will engage in a battle with former manager Jose Mourinho and AS Roma for the services of Norwich City star Max Aarons. He was previously a transfer target for Spurs ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Aarons came up through the youth ranks and has established himself as a first-team player. He has played a whopping 145 matches at a young age in the senior level while having five goals and 14 assists in the process.
The Englishman was a long term target for Tottenham, and it seems that they have rekindled their interest ahead of the transfer window. However, they will have to deal with their former coach Mourinho who is also keen on securing his services.
The Canaries have put a price tag of £19million for the right-back, but it could rise even further due to a bidding war. Premier League rivals Everton are also interested in signing him, adding to the competition.
Future signing?
Looking at our right-back slot, we require someone to add quality and depth to the squad. While we have brought in Emerson Royal, he is yet to showcase the quality that he has shown at Real Betis. Matt Doherty has failed to live up to expectations which prompted the signing of Emerson this summer.
The Norwich defender would be a signing for the future as he has years left in his bag. More importantly, he already has gained enough senior-level experience which could give him a hand should he move to N17.

The right-back can also play on the left side of the defence and offers versatility which is always a bonus. Plus, with Antonio Conte at the helm, we could see him develop even further as the Italian is infamous for doing so. We are already seeing it first hand in the form of Oliver Skipp, who has looked excellent under Conte.
With the January transfer window on the horizon, we would get a clear idea about the interest in the days to come. Time will tell where the future lies for the talented youngster.
