James Horncastle tips Fiorentina to sell Dusan Vlahovic to a PL team amid Tottenham interest
According to BT Sport (h/t Daily Express), Italian football expert James Horncastle suggests that Fiorentina would rather sell Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic to a Premier League team than give him away to a direct rival such as Juventus.
Dusan Vlahovic has been a phenomenon in Serie A. The Serbian striker has already bagged 17 goals and three assists in 18 appearances across all competitions. And this isn’t his first season where he is impressing, with his last campaign being spectacular as well.
However, despite his best efforts, the 21-year-old forward failed to put Fiorentina in a respectable position in the league table. La Viola aren’t a UEFA Champions League-playing club as of now and don’t look like they can make the cut anytime soon despite doing moderately well this season.
The Serbian forward has already attracted much interest from elite European teams. It is believed that Atletico Madrid were keen on luring him in the summer. However, the Serie A club ruled out the interests in an attempt to keep hold of the player. However, their efforts to agree on a renewal deal have reached a dead end in recent times. Thus, Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has opened up to the possibility of selling him.
Currently, the Italian side has put a transfer tag of £60m on the Serbian international. It is believed that Arsenal and Tottenham are the English heavyweights contending for his signature.
Even though Juventus have been interested in the player, Italian football expert James Horncastle believes Turin wouldn’t be an ideal destination for him.
“Fiorentina’s preference is always not to sell to Juventus because of the rivalry between them.”
Horncastle even suggested that the player could be Premier League-bound as Fiorentina would be comfortable handing him over to a foreign league team.
“Ultimately, if Vlahovic is to go, Fiorentina would prefer to sell to the Premier League.”
This season has been a disappointing one from Harry Kane’s standards. The English captain has only managed one goal in 13 appearances and didn’t have much impact in recent games. His lack of goalscoring abilities could be one of the causes for Tottenham’s dismal start of the season.

Vlahovic is a tried and tested goalscorer in one of the toughest leagues in the world. He could form a deadly partnership with Kane up front or could even be his understudy if Conte prefers the Englishman in the short term. In case we end up losing our 28-year-old superstar, Vlahovic could even be a viable long-term replacement for him.
But that is, of course, only if we manage to sign him in the near future. And it remains to be seen if Daniel Levy is willing to loosen the purse strings this time.
