Tottenham manager Antonio Conte gives injury updates on Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero
According to Football.London, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte suggested that Giovani Lo Celso could be back from injury; however, there is no good news for Cristian Romero at this moment.
Lo Celso and Romero picked up injuries during the international break last month with the Argentine national team. And as a result, both players have missed several important games for Tottenham. Their absence created serious difficulties for Conte but the Italian manager has now provided some good news ahead of the Leicester clash.
The former Inter Milan manager suggested that Lo Celso has recovered from the knee injury he suffered in the previous months and took part in the recent training session with other Spurs teammates.
“No, no injuries [apart from] Romero, and good news is that Giovani Lo Celso is available, and he started to train with us from Sunday.”
However, Antonio Conte hinted that Romero still hasn’t completed his recovery process, and the Atalanta loanee would need to be sidelined for some more games. The former Chelsea manager added that the centre-back should keep his composure under challenging circumstances.
“Now we have only Romero injured, and we hope for Cristian to recover very soon. You know that injury is a serious injury, and I understand also the frustration of the player, that he doesn’t have the opportunity to play, but Cristian has to be calm and to recover in the right way because we need him.”
Despite Tottenham’s request, the Premier League board has decided to give the go-ahead for the clash against Leicester. The North London team hasn’t completely recovered from the Covid-19 crisis that ravaged the team in recent weeks.
Lo Celso is a nifty player in midfield and we can use his creativity going forward. His passing ability is also solid and he adds significant depth to our team. But the most important thing he offers right now is availability. If he is fit, then Conte has a senior player he can field as Spurs battle the Covid outbreak that has put several players out of action.

The same goes for Romero. It would have been a pleasure to have him back this early, but it seems we have to wait a bit longer. Conte already plays three central defenders in his set-up and it is necessary for us to have a good back-up in that area.
Hopefully, we have enough players on our roster to field a strong side today. A win here would help us close the gap to the top 4 spots, and we already have a couple of games in our hands over our rivals.
