Antonio Conte: Tottenham Hotspur are training with Mannequins due to the absence of Covid infected players

According to Daily Mail, Antonio Conte has been obliged to use Mannequins in Tottenham Hotspur training sessions to cover up for the absences of Covid-hit players.

The first batch of Covid-19 tests saw seven players and two staff members come out positive. But after the test on the following day, the numbers surged as one more player and three staff members got infected by the deadly virus. The situation worsened in the next few days, and the positive cases kept rising in the youth ranks.

Covid Update: Antonio Conte suggested that Tottenham first team is forced to use dummies in training.

The massive surge in Covid-19 cases among the players and staff of Tottenham has halted normal life at the Hotspur Way. The first team training facilities were sealed for several days, and the Covid negative players were obliged to stay at home during the crisis.

Antonio Conte faced several issues to get fit players to fill up all the spots in the starting eleven. Due to the covid crisis, Spurs have had one Conference League game and two Premier League matches have been postponed.

The former Inter Milan manager suggested that even after returning to training, there weren’t enough players to function with the standard training modules.

“For three days, we didn’t have a training session and then we had a training session with only 10, 12 players.”

Tottenham opened their training facilities last week after a brief halt in the proceedings.

The Italian revealed that due to the acute shortage of first-team players, the coaching team have used dummies to fill up the position in the field. The former Chelsea manager also suggested that the situation has been difficult for him and his team in the last few days.

“It wasn’t easy to face this situation and to train the players. To have 12 players is very difficult. Usually, if you want to try a formation, you need 20 players, and it’s not simple to do this. You have to train with mannequins, and I stopped. It’s not easy. It’s not the same.”

As the Tottenham players didn’t get the chance to train and participate in physical sessions, their bodies could take a hit if the workload suddenly increases. There would also be mental pressure when playing against top teams, knowing they are short in enforcement.
