Antonio Conte: Meeting with Fabio Paratici on Tottenham Hotspur transfer targets could follow soon
Tottenham Hotspur need to bring in new faces to raise the quality of the squad, and Antonio Conte said that a meeting with Fabio Paratici will take place soon to discuss potential transfer targets. His team will face off against Liverpool later today in the Premier League.
The Italian manager has been successful so far at Tottenham and has instilled his ideas into the squad. Considerable improvements were seen since he took over and the team got uplifted in a short time. However, there were also times when the lack of quality in the backup options was noticeable, which calls for reinforcements in the coming transfer windows.
According to Evening Standard, Conte mentioned that the discussion would follow soon as it got delayed due to the Covid-19 outbreak within their camp. He added how an assessment of the squad is currently being made for that purpose.
“In this moment we’re not thinking about the transfer window. We’ve had many, many problems to face and try to solve. It was very difficult to speak about other topics. For sure, in the next days we’ll try to have a meeting to speak about the situation and see if there’s a way to improve the squad and in which way. In this moment, I’m making an evaluation about the whole squad.”
Potential Squad Overhaul?
It would be interesting to see who would make the cut and who would not. What we know is that everyone naturally had a clean slate when the 52-year-old arrived, and their performances following the appointment could determine the future of the players. But it remains to be seen what is Conte’s criteria for selecting his Spurs squad beyond the winter transfer window.
At the same time, there are areas where we lack options to help us compete throughout the season, such as at centre-back and the number 9 position. We do need adequate depth in our team to keep everyone fresh or else it would result in a case where they get burnt out towards the end of the campaign.
The matches that are to follow in December and early January could determine the future of some of the fringe players at N17. They would need to find their feet and take their chances in training sessions and on matchday if they hope to continue at the club.

At the same time, we would hope that the Spurs coach would get backed as he has at his previous clubs. He has proved already that he would attain success if properly supported by the hierarchy, with his stints at Chelsea, Juventus, and Inter Milan earning him a reputation of being one of the best in the business.
We did have a pretty decent summer window in all honesty. Fringe players Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela were shown the door while Cristian Romero and Bryan Gil, along with Pierluigi Gollini, were brought in. Not to mention, we kept hold of Harry Kane. A similar window in terms of strengthening would make January a successful month for us.
