West Ham eye Tottenham Hotspur outcast Dele Alli as an alternative for Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard
According to Eurosport (h/t Manchester Evening News), West Ham United have shortlisted Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli as an alternative for Manchester United star Jesse Lingard. Alli has been in a downward spiral in general since the last years of Mauricio Pochettino’s time at the club.
The Hammers are interested in securing the services of Lingard, who impressed last season on loan at London Stadium. He has struggled for minutes at Old Trafford, which caused them to identify the situation as an opportunity to get him in the coming transfer windows.
Should the Irons fail in their attempt to get the 29-year-old, the Spurs star has been identified as an alternative option. The latter’s future at N17 has reached a standstill, and he could be on the way out, having failed to impress Antonio Conte.
An opportunity?
Earlier this month, it was said that Conte assessed that the midfielder is no longer in his plans, prompting Daniel Levy to look for clubs interested in him. A permanent transfer was the preferred option, but his current status could have forced them to accept a loan deal with an option to buy.
It could provide us with an opportunity to get rid of the Englishman ahead of the January transfer window. The main problem would be how the interest is tied to the future of the Red Devils forward.
We would need a favour from our Premier League rivals by failing to reach a common ground with David Moyes’ side. Should that happen, the cards would fall into our hands, and Levy would have to negotiate a deal that favours us in general.
The chances that we could facilitate a permanent transfer are low since Moyes’s team would be taking a high risk if that happens. A loan option seems reasonable, and if the England midfielder impresses like the Man United ace did in the last term, it will also help us receive a good transfer fee for his services.

Alli could get more chances to express himself, and a change of air could be what he needs to get through this hardship. It could shape out to be a best-case scenario for us if Man United continue to play hardball regarding Lingard.
