Antonio Conte wants reunion with Inter Milan star Arturo Vidal at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of January transfer window

According to Spanish news outlet La Tercera (h/t Burnley Express), Antonio Conte is targeting a reunion with Inter Milan midfielder Arturo Vidal at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the January transfer window. They previously worked at Juventus and Inter Milan, where they enjoyed great success together.

Conte has spoken with the 34-year-old over a potential transfer in the coming transfer windows. The Nerazzurri are currently top of the Serie A table, and it remains to be seen whether they would let him leave in the January transfer window considering they are going for the Scudetto again.

Vidal has been used as a rotational player this season and has struggled to enter the starting lineup. Even with that, he has scored two goals and assisted thrice, having featured in 16 matches across all competitions. That shows how he still possesses enough quality to influence the game from midfield.

Could Vidal reunite with his former coach Antonio Conte?

Good option?

The Chilean has played a total of 141 matches under the Italian while scoring 36 goals alongside 21 assists. Those who have followed his career in the past decade or so know that he is an influential player when attacking, and a fierce competitor in midfield when his team is out of possession.

Dele Alli could have been one option but has struggled to get going under the 52-year-old. He did have a splendid game against Liverpool recently, even if he missed chances that could have given us the three points.

The Chilean superstar is in the latter stages of his career and would perhaps only be a signing for the short term. He turns 35 next month but if his displays for the Italian side are anything to go by, he can give a solid couple of seasons at N17- if we do manage to sign him.

The Serie A midfielder would also bring in some bite and grit into the midfield, which would be a splendid addition. All the matches would not follow the same pattern, and there would be times when we need some fight and disruption to take control over the game.

It is still early days, and we would need to see how the situation develops in the future. The recent displays from the fringe players against the Reds could prove an obstacle if they continue to build on it in the coming games but it can’t be argued that Vidal brings with him bags of experience and that winning mentality that has seen him lift trophies at clubs like Inter, Bayern Munich, and Juventus.
