Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur have “indicated their intention” to battle Arsenal for Juventus ace Dejan Kulusevski
According to Corriere Torino [Print Edition] via Sport Witness (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur have “indicated their intention” to battle Arsenal for Juventus ace Dejan Kulusevski. He has struggled to earn consistent minutes this season and has attracted interest from Premier League clubs.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old next month but Fabio Paratici has plans to derail their interest. Paratici could be ready to clash with them as he is apparently a keen admirer of the player.
Spurs have expressed their interest in getting the Juventus star next month, and a bidding war could follow as a result of this situation. The Tottenham Managing Director could personally get involved because of his previous affiliations with Juve. He also has good connections in Italy, which could give us an edge in the race.
What to expect?
It is always good to see the club’s name linked with top players around the continent. Kulusevski’s talent is there for all to see. After all, he wouldn’t be playing for the Old Lady if he did not possess the potential to be a top player one day.
Some would be concerned by the goal output of the Sweden international this season, as he has scored one goal and assisted twice in twenty matches. But we should keep in mind that the entire team has struggled this term under Massimiliano Allegri and that goals and assists aren’t really the only way to judge a footballer’s contributions and worth to their team.
The Bianconeri winger has not received consistent minutes but has found it much easier to earn game time recently. It remains to be seen whether he has gained more prominence as others have struggled to make a mark in the frontline.
The Swedish forward is very versatile in his ability to play in multiple positions, which could greatly help Antonio Conte in his system. Kulusevski is of a brilliant age profile and will only get better as the years pass. We must do everything in our power to snatch a player of such quality from the claws of arguably our biggest rivals.

The Swedish attacker would increase our depth and quality in multiple areas and could improve much more under the Italian. The latter is known for his ability to improve players, which is noticeable at his previous tenures. This would also hand much-need competition to the likes of Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura, and Steven Bergwijn down the wings.
And competition breeds excellence. If players know their position in the team is not totally safe, they would have even more motivation to give it their all.
