Tottenham Hotspur open to letting Dele Alli and Matt Doherty leave in the January transfer window
According to Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Athletic (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur are open to letting Dele Alli and Matt Doherty leave the club in the January transfer window. They could be used as leeways to facilitate incomings, and it would be tough to do so without departures.
Tottenham are interested in bringing in reinforcements, especially an attacking right wing-back and a forward, to boost their squad depth. However, they are on a tight rope, and it would be challenging to land the targets without selling first.
Spurs would prefer the option to get some money, but just how much fringe players can bring in remains to be seen. They are also willing to listen to offers for others who fall into the same category, but their names have not been specified.
End of the road?
Doherty has disappointed since moving from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and it seems that he could be used to bring in an attacking wingback on the right side. Emerson Royal’s arrival in the previous summer has seen him take over at right-back.
Alli, on the other hand, recently had a solid performance against Liverpool, who are one of the favourites to win the Premier League. However, it seems that alone is not enough for the club to keep him around.
The Spurs duo would need to do something drastic in the coming days to make a case for themselves. But the number of matches are few, and they need to take the chances they receive to the fullest. Time will tell whether they could convince Conte and co to keep them on.
It seems that Antonio Conte has asked the hierarchy to provide him with the necessary signings in the winter transfer window. An attacking right-back would suit the style he has been implementing at his earlier jobs.

As for a forward, it is clear that we lack options upfront as Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min, and Lucas Moura are the only reliable players for our side. It remains to be seen how the situation develops next month and who will indeed be brought in.
