Transfer News: Di Marzio claims Fiorentina ace Dusan Vlahovic could prefer Tottenham Hotspur over Arsenal
Speaking to Wettfreunde, as quoted by football.london, transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio has revealed that Fiorentina ace Dusan Vlahovic could be more interested in signing for Tottenham Hotspur than Arsenal.
The 21-year-old has been exceptional in the last 18 months for the Serie A club. He helped La Viola comfortably avoid relegation last season by scoring 21 times but has taken his goal scoring standards up a notch during this campaign by scoring 18 goals in 22 games. Understandably, his stock is rising, and several clubs are interested in landing his signature.
Tottenham and Arsenal are amongst them, but Vlahovic is apparently not keen on moving to the latter, as explained by transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio.
“Arsenal, for example, his (Vlahovic) agents do not want to speak to them. They think Arsenal is not enough for him and his career. They think that Tottenham or Man City or Man Utd are more [of a] fit for him. Tottenham with Antonio Conte as a coach is the right fit for him.
“He could be a replacement for [Harry] Kane or even play with him, for one year. He can improve with Kane, by training with him, during the matches. I think that he can learn from a top player like Kane. One year behind Kane, or he can play with him – that should be the right fit for him.”
Vlahovic to snub Arsenal for Spurs?
Signing the Serbian international is not going to be easy. The Fiorentina star has immense demands as he is eyeing a mouth-watering £200,000-per-week in wages after tax, according to the Daily Star (h/t football.london). Although that is a huge salary for a youngster, his performances indicate that he could be worth it.
Thus, it bodes well for us that his representatives prefer a move away from the Gunners. Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are likely to have good knowledge about the Serie A market, given the amount of time they have spent working in the country and the league.
But they would also be wary of Man City. Pep Guardiola and co have a history of winning league titles and competing well in Europe, making them an attractive destination for Vlahovic. However, Conte could convince the Serbian that Tottenham is the right fit for him. Harry Kane cannot keep scoring forever, and Spurs need an heir for his throne. The Serie A star could certainly do so.
There is, of course, also the incredibly tasty prospect of him being paired up with Kane upfront at N17.

Regardless, it is a good feeling that one of the best young strikers is unlikely to join our arch-rivals. We could try our best to land the Fiorentina ace’s signature, but only time will tell whether he agrees to come to the N17 in the coming transfer windows.
