Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur target Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick amidst Arsenal interest
According to 90min (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur have identified Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick as a transfer target amidst interest from arch-rivals Arsenal. He has had a terrific year, having impressed for both club and country.
Premier League clubs like Manchester City, West Ham United and Everton are also keeping tabs on the situation as they eye a future transfer. These interests have resulted as a result of the Bundesliga star’s displays in Germany following his sensational campaign in Euro 2020.
Schick attracted attention from across the globe for his excellent performances for the Czech Republic, where he became the top scorer of the competition tying with Cristiano Ronaldo in the process. He carried that form into the club level and has had a prolific season so far.
Patrik Schick to Spurs?
Our options in attack are limited, and the issue needs to be addressed as soon as possible. We cannot hope to challenge for titles when our depth is not as good enough compared to our competitors. The draw against Southampton shows how fatigue affected the squad, and the limited choices had played a part in it.
Harry Kane does not have a solid backup option, and we cannot use him throughout the season. The Leverkusen forward would be a fine addition and would instantly raise the level of our attack.
The Czech Republic attacker has scored 16 goals alongside three assists from 18 matches across all competitions this season. That is a splendid output, and we could use someone like him in the project we are building under Antonio Conte.
The obvious question among many is whether we could get the Czech Republic superstar looking at our circumstances and that of the competitors. We cannot guarantee a starting spot as Kane, Son Heung-Min, and Lucas Moura has been solid recently. That puts us at a disadvantage without even considering the situation of the league rivals.

Man City and the Gunners are the obvious heavyweights, and they could require a striker in their squad. The former are favourites across multiple competitions and does not have a proper center-forward, whereas the latter has had issues with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
As such, Fabio Paratici would have a challenging job in hand if we are actively looking to bring the Bundesliga ace in the coming transfer windows. Time will tell where he would end up but let’s hope that we are the ones who would get his services.
