Vhelsea ace Romelu Lukaku seeking Antonio Conte reunion at Tottenham Hotspur
According to Italian journalist Giovanni Bia via TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t Football.London), Romelu Lukaku desires to play under Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.
Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku made headlines last week due to controversial comments he made on an interview with Sky Italia. The Blues striker was seen saying that Thomas Tuchel has favoured a different system and suggested that he is currently not enjoying his stay with the Blues. The player went further to bring references from his Inter Milan days where Conte’s tactics helped raise his game to incredible levels.
The Belgian enjoyed a successful two-season spell at Inter before joining Chelsea for a club-record fee last summer. In his last season with the Nerazzurri, the 28-year-old star netted 30 goals and 44 assists across all competitions. It was evident that Conte’s system favoured his growth.
Italian journalist Giovanni Bia suggests that Lukaku’s admission is a strong claim that the Belgian star wants to reunite with his former manager at Tottenham.
Lukaku chose to leave Inter Milan following Antonio Conte out of the exit door at the San Siro. It’s not sure if the current Spurs’ manager’s decision impacted the Belgian’s exit; however, the possibility of such a scenario can’t be ruled out.
The Belgian striker still hasn’t managed to replicate his success at Chelsea. The 28-year-old has impressed in a few matches but the overall impact has been found wanting.
Tottenham’s central striker Harry Kane also saw a poor start of the season. Even though the English star has scored goals in the past few matches, his performance levels haven’t been all that impressive. Even if Kane continues his indigent run, Antonio Conte currently doesn’t have a lot of options to replace the Three Lions captain.

Therefore the inclusion of Lukaku doesn’t seem like a luxury for Tottenham. The Belgian forward would have a cemented place after joining the North London team. If the 28-year-old manages to find the form under Antonio Conte, it’d be a win-win situation for him and Spurs.
