Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte identifies four stars he wants to get rid of
According to ESPN, Antonio Conte has shortlisted four Tottenham Hotspur players he wants to offload after a humiliating defeat to Chelsea.
The Italian joined Tottenham in the first week of November and has since introduced challenging training schedules in his regime. There is a clear impact on the Spurs squad as some of the off-form players had returned to good shape under the Italian manager.
However, the former Inter Milan manager’s ideas are limited due to the lack of quality footballers in the squad. The standards set are high and he is keen to see those who don’t meet them are let go of.
After the Carabao Cup defeat against Chelsea, Conte was severely critical of his side and suggested that Spurs are far behind the Premier League’s top performers when it comes to the on-field performance.
It is believed that the Italian manager had already communicated his assessment to the senior figures at the club in a private meeting. The 52-year-old has shortlisted four out-of-favour stars he wants to offload immediately.
The names on the list are Dele Alli, Steven Bergwijn, Matt Doherty and Tanguy Ndombele. Furthermore, Japhet Tanganga and Giovani Lo Celso are among the ones whose future is hanging by a thread.
The clear-out will begin once Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy signs off on it. However, there is a severe concern about doing business in the winter transfer window as the club faces the risk of giving away players at low prices.
Tottenham have to sign quality long term replacements if they decide to sell the players. It is believed that Conte wants to bolster his options with a centre-back, a wing-back, a midfielder and a backup forward for Harry Kane. However, luring quality players would be difficult in the winter transfer window as many teams would avoid selling their key players mid-season.

Tottenham lacks depth in several positions currently. Even though the manager can put up a strong team with 11 players of the squad, there isn’t much backup available. In comparison, some players are only warming the bench.
Therefore a strict stance from the manager could bring massive changes to the squad. However, the Italian has already suggested that the task wouldn’t be possible to achieve in only one window. Thus, patience is required from the Spurs board and the fans.
