Tottenham Hotspur fans react after club progresses to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup after win vs Morecambe
It was a game of two halves as Tottenham Hotspur won 3-1 against Morecambe in the Third Round of the FA Cup.
Antonio Conte, who saw his team completely outplayed by Chelsea in mid-week in the EFL Cup semi-final, would have expected a response from his side. But he afforded a much-needed rest to Harry Kane, Lucas Moura, Davinson Sanchez, and Emerson Royal.
It should have been an easy victory, given that the Lancashire-based side is 21st in the Football League one– the third tier of English football. But they gave us a run for our money in the opening half. Their work rate was incredibly high, and they were closing down the spaces well. After half an hour into the game, Morecambe won a corner.
Some shoddy defending on the part of Japhet Tanganga, saw Anthony O’Connor slam the ball past a helpless Pierluigi Gollini. The Football League one side rejoiced as they were only 60 minutes away from causing a massive upset. Spurs retaliated with increased pressure as Bryan Gil, Dele Alli, and Giovani Lo Celso tried to break open the shackles.
However, Trevor Carson had a great game in between the posts. Conte resisted the urge to make changes at half-time and gave his starting XI some more time to change the game. Despite showing more intensity in the opening 20 minutes of the second half, Tottenham could not find the equalizer.
Super Subs to the rescue
The Italian then made three changes as Moura, Kane, and Oliver Skipp were introduced. The latter brought some control in the centre of the pitch while the former duo increased the pressure on The Shrimps. Soon, our men won a free kick near the corner flag, and Harry Winks was primed to provide an inviting cross.
The Englishman whipped the ball into a dangerous area, and the pace and elevation on the strike saw it go past everybody and nestle into the far corner. We found the equalizer we longed for 15 minutes from time. The away side started conceding more chances in the game’s dying embers as they were mentally and physically tired. Spurs took advantage of this and bagged the 2nd goal in the 85th minute.
Moura found himself on the end of a counter-attack, and the Brazilian rounded off Carson to put us in the driving seat. However, the boys were not done as a couple of minutes later, Kane backed himself into the opposition penalty box and rolled over the defender to score the third goal and put the game beyond any doubt in doing so. Thus, after a tumultuous first-half performance, Conte and co were able to turn the game on its head.
Let us now see how some fans reacted on Twitter to Spurs going through to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

It’s embarrassing how bad our bench is. Kane and Moura saving us yet again

Lets hope thats the last time we ever see NDombele or Alli in a Spurs shirt. I give Gil the benefit of the doubt, a 19 year old learning the language and culture of English football but Alli and NDombele have no excuse! Waltzing about like they couldnt care less, embarrasing!

352 vs Chelsea. Winks Skipp Lo celso. Kane and Lucas up front or 343 with Skipp and Winks with Lucas Kane and Gil up front. I dont wanna see Ndombele in a spurs shirt ever again. Body feint merchant

It’s amazing what you can achieve when Ndombele, Dele and Gil aren’t on the pitch.
