Transfer News: Adama Traore keen to work under Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur
According to 90min (h/t Daily Express), Wolves star Adama Traore has shown interest in playing for Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.
Adama Traore is an enigmatic player who can be a juggernaut on the flanks but has lacked the necessary developments in recent years. The Spaniard’s overall impact on the Wolves side has decreased over the years, and his impressive 2019/20 season has become a distant memory.
Despite getting several opportunities in the early phase of the campaign, the 25-year-old couldn’t produce his best form. The Barcelona academy graduate has failed to bag any assist or goals in his 20 appearances across all competitions this season.
Tottenham has been heavily linked with Traore for a long time. Spurs made a considerable effort in bringing the 25-year-old last season. However, Wolves valuation of £50million prevented Antonio Conte’s side from scintillating the move. Daniel Levy has kept his tab on the Wolves star, who has rejected a renewal deal recently.
Even though Chelsea and Liverpool have joined the race, Tottenham’s recruitment of Antonio Conte could provide Spurs with an edge in the negotiation table. It is believed that Traore is a big admirer of the Italian and wants to rejuvenate his form under the North London club’s manager.
The Italian had previously helped players rediscover their best at his former clubs. During his time at Chelsea, Conte influenced Victor Moses’ development. After the arrival of the former Inter Milan manager, some out-of-favour Spurs stars like Lucas Moura and Harry Winks have also upped their game.
According to The Athletic [Subscription Required], Antonio Conte wants to deploy Traore in the wing-back role. Traore is famous for his breathtaking pace and immense physicality. Therefore, he could become comfortable running up and down the right flank.
The 25-year-old could also provide significant competition to Emerson Royal, who has remained the only viable option for Conte due to the lack of depth.
