Son Heung-Min: Harry Kane will rediscover his goalscoring touch for Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte warned he could lose striker Harry Kane at the end of the season

As per the Mirror, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov believes that club captain Harry Kane could once again force a move away from the club if manager Antonio Conte fails to bring in silverware at the end of this season.

Kane tried to seek a transfer away from North London in the summer with a £100m move to Manchester City, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy refused to see through the deal.

Berbatov claims that the 28-year-old forward will be driven by the worry that he is running out of time to realise his ambitions, with the England skipper yet to win a trophy in his career.

“In my opinion, I think we are going to see a similar situation with Harry Kane to last year. I am not convinced that the thought of moving to a top club to win trophies is completely out of Harry’s head.”

“The only way that won’t happen is if Spurs win something or qualify for the Champions League. That’s where Kane wants to be – so let’s see if Spurs can surprise a few people by doing it”

Berbatov is of the opinion that Conte must deliver Champions League qualification or FA Cup success if he is to convince Kane to stay beyond the summer, with the Bulgarian saying that Kane still has a temptation to seek a move away from Spurs.

What next for Harry Kane?

Tottenham have already missed out on some silverware this season, losing to Chelsea in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup. They are also miles behind defending champions Manchester City in the league, with an aim to now finish in the top-four places.

Berbatov feels that Spurs will need to bend their philosophy to Conte’s will in order to succeed and win trophies, as the Italian brings consistency. He ended Juventus’ Serie A dominance in glorious fashion last season as he led Inter Milan to their first Scudetto in a while.

Fans would be praying for a similar outcome with Conte at N17. Spurs are yet to win silverware since they won the League Cup back in 2008, and fell at the final hurdle on several occasions under Mauricio Pochettino.

It is no secret that Kane has been our best player in recent years, with his goalscoring exploits keeping us in contention in most competitions. Last summer saw us nearly lose our captain to rivals City, and to see him turn up in white again this season has been a relief.

Kane cannot be faulted for wanting to join a side that regularly delivers silverware, but with Conte as manager, this would be our best chance at aiming for trophies. The Italian has been successful everywhere he’s managed, and with someone of Conte’s pedigree at the helm of our club, we can look forward to building a side that competes with the very best.

The Carabao Cup semi-final exit will sting our chance of holding onto Kane beyond the summer, but there is no doubting that Conte’s arrival has seen an upturn in our fortunes of late.

With a chance to win the FA Cup coming up in the next few months, and recent league results seeing slowly climb the Premier League table, the second half of the season will be crucial not only for our club’s future ambitions, but also Kane’s.
