Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur offered chance to sign Angers forward Mohamed Ali-Cho

As per Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer to sign Angers striker Mohamed Ali-Cho with just a few days left in the January transfer window.

There seems to be plenty of transfer buzz surrounding Spurs, as they look to provide manager Antonio Conte with the reinforcements he requires. Tottenham are said to have already enquired with Wolves about the possibility of signing winger Adama Traore.

On top of that, they are also said to be keen on bolstering their midfield options and are targeting AC Milan’s Franck Kessie, as they look to offload Tanguy Ndombele to Paris Saint-Germain.

With news of Spurs looking for a forward this month, the club is said to have made an offer for Ali-Cho, who has racked up five appearances for the French U21s so far. The North London club will not have it easy though, as the player is also attracting interest from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

Ready, Set, Cho

Only 18-years-old, Ali-Cho seems to have garnered the attention of top European clubs, despite not playing for a very ‘big’ French club or setting any major goal-scoring records. It may well be the starlet’s attacking qualities that seem to make him an attractive buy for his suitors.

The teenager, who plies his trade in France, was in England until quite recently, having played for Everton before he made a move to Angers 18 months ago. The player is said to be valued at up to £16.8m.

Harry Kane could use a backup at Tottenham.

Conte has been sending cries for help in recent weeks, hinting at getting reinforcements that can take his side from top four contenders to world-beaters. The Italian recently claimed that his team is quite some distance away from competing with the best clubs in the world.

Our reliable No.9 Harry Kane has not hit his usual heights this season, and we do not have a backup striker to rely on goals for either. The likes of Fernando Llorente and Carlos Vinicius Jr have done a decent job for us in the past few years, but have since left the club.

Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn have both played out wide in their careers, but have recently been used down the middle of the attack by Conte. Having a natural number 9 to take the load off Kane’s shoulders would certainly bode well for us.

Ali-Cho may not be the signing fans had envisaged but he is young and would be looking to make a name for himself. With no natural backup in the number 9 role, it remains to be seen if Spurs can seal the deal for the forward before the end of the January transfer window. He can play alongside Kane or be a backup for him- but before we think of such possibilities, he would have to be brought to N17 first.
