Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur spring to action to sign Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski
According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur are currently laying down the foundations to sign Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski in the January transfer window. They are working overtime to get this deal done since the deadline date will soon be upon them.
Kulusevski is currently tied down at the Allianz Stadium until 2025, which could be a problem for Tottenham. However, it is stated that the potential deal could be a loan while having a buy option or a mandatory clause included in the agreement.
Spurs are desperate for reinforcements in their first-team squad as they are yet to back Antonio Conte in the winter transfer window. They tried to get Adama Traore but were leapfrogged by Barcelona in the race while Luis Diaz, another winger on their list this month, is currently engaged in negotiations with Liverpool, leading to a dire situation at N17.
Kulu-saves-ki
We have lost Traore to Barca, whereas our pursuit of Diaz could also be more or less coming to an end at this instant. Our failed attempts to get these two alone would be a major headache for Conte, who is yet to bring in a single player to Spurs since taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo.
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that both clubs are directly engaged in talks, but the Serie A side is demanding for the obligation clause to be put in the potential move. Time is against us at this point, and our desperation for signings would be well known due to the recent setbacks that we suffered.
Paratici had previous affiliations with Juve and so did Conte when he was a player in Turin for 13 years and their manager from 2011 to 2014, so it remains to be seen if that relationship could assist us in any sort of way.
The 21-year-old has had it tough with Juve despite showcasing promising displays at Parma. The lack of consistency in minutes and roles have hampered his chances to reach the potential he had shown before.
And a change in environment could be useful for the Swede right now. Time will tell whether we can get this deal over the line or not, but at this stage in the window, it’s not like we are spoilt for choice. Kulusevski isn’t a bad option as well.

A young player who is often found playing on the right flank, Kulusevski can play anywhere across the frontline– much like Lucas Moura. Only 21, there is still a lot of time for him to hit his prime and our fans would hope those years unfold at N17.
And we would be wise to be quick and decisive in this deal. It would be a horrible look for the club if we manage to miss out on the Sweden international as well.
