Tottenham Hotspur star Dejan Kulusevski ‘wants more’ after win over Manchester City
Speaking to the club’s official website, Tottenham Hotspur forward Dejan Kulusevski has spoken about his delight after the amazing 3-2 win over Manchester City and said he wanted more of the same.
The Swede put his side ahead against the defending champions early in the first half and then contributed once again at the end, setting up Harry Kane deep into injury time to come away from the Etihad Stadium with all three points.
Kulusevski reflected on the performance and said that they could improve a lot more, but was thankful for the fans for the warm welcome they have given him since his January transfer.
“We can improve a lot, but we were very good tonight, and we have to enjoy this. It was amazing to be with the fans. They have welcomed me very nicely, I’m so happy to be here and I want to make them proud.”
Along with Juventus teammate Rodrigo Bentancur, the pair moved to Tottenham on deadline day of the winter transfer window to start a new life in England. The winger is on loan at the club till summer next year.
Hard work pays off
The result against City saw Spurs lose a three-game losing streak in the league, as they stopped their recent slump. Manager Antonio Conte will hope to use this win as a platform to kickstart their ascent up the Premier League table.
Kulusevski appreciated Conte’s methods behind the scenes, saying that hard work pays off and that he wants more such victories from the club in the future.
“It was fantastic. It shows that hard work pays off and after this feeling you want more. You want to be back out there tomorrow, you want to work even harder, because it’s a wonderful feeling.”
The win against Man City blew open the title race for rivals Liverpool, as the Reds aim to take advantage of this situation and come closer to usurping the Manchester club. A rare home defeat for the defending champions means that Spurs have now done the double over Pep Guardiola’s side in the same season.
The victory was also vital for Spurs, as they picked up three very important points in their bid to sneak into the top four of the league by the end of the season. Although currently in eighth place, the Lilywhites have multiple games in hand and now hopefully have momentum on their hands.

In what was Kulusevski’s first start of the season in Tottenham colours, the winger was hugely impressive as he notched up a goal and an assist during the game. He will hope to continue his good form and work his way into Conte’s plans as a permanent fixture in the team.
Despite only moving to N17 at the end of January, the Sweden international seems to have settled into life quickly at the club. We should hope to see more of the winger’s exploits in upcoming matches and keep up his excellent form.
