Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur make ‘firm offer’ to Juventus star Paulo Dybala

According to Spanish publication Sport (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur have made a serious offer to Juventus ace Paulo Dybala to convince the forward to move to north London in the summer.

The Argentine is currently out of contract at the end of the season, which means the Lilywhites can snap him up for free in the summer if they convince him of a move to swap Italy for England.

It is said that Spurs have already spoken to the forward, and the club’s offer is the strongest one Dybala has on the table. This is a great step forward by the English side to gain an advantage in signing the Juventus star.

Despite the incredible offer made to Dybala, Tottenham will still face stiff competition for the Argentina international as Barcelona and Inter Milan are also said to be interested.

Using contacts

Tottenham football director Fabio Paratici is ramping up efforts to sign the star, after Spurs had an underwhelming January transfer window where they only managed to get new signings on deadline day after seeing hardly any activity up until then.

Paratici approached his former club Juventus to sign Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur last month, and now it looks like he is using his contacts once again to land Dybala in the summer in a sensational free transfer that would boost Spurs’ attacking ranks.

Spurs are in need of reinforcements up front, as Harry Kane is the only senior striker available in the squad at the moment. The club failed to sign a backup forward the previous summer or in January, so the summer is the best chance to fix this issue.

Having Dybala on board would certainly increase Tottenham’s prospects of winning a trophy for the first time since the summer of 2008, given the Juventus ace’s penchant for goals. This season already, the player has found the back of the net 12 times in all competitions.

Signing a big name like Dybala would certainly send a message to the north London club’s rivals that the side means serious business in the 2022/23 season. Potentially snapping the player up for free would just prove to be an added bonus.

But more than just goals and assists, Dybala’s quick feet and passing in the attacking third makes him a tough player for opposition defenders to deal with. He can play as a winger, as a number 10, a second striker, and even in the middle of a front three.

At 28, the forward is in the prime of his career and Tottenham would do well to utilise this form of his to their advantage. Spurs fans can begin drooling at the prospect of seeing Kane and Dybala link up together up front, given the news that Tottenham have put forward the best deal available to the Argentine at the moment.
