Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-min Son hails ‘special’ Antonio Conte after Leeds United win
Speaking after his side’s 4-0 win over Leeds United in the Premier League (h/t Evening Standard), Tottenham Hotspur ace Heung-min Son hailed boss Antonio Conte and said that the players were fully behind the manager.
Spurs were fantastic against a poor Leeds side, storming into a 3-0 lead by halftime. Son got on the scoresheet himself, slotting in the fourth goal of the game towards the end of the match. Conte was visibly happy on the sidelines as Spurs bounced back after a horrid league defeat against Burnley.
Son said that Conte was ‘special’, with his passion having a positive effect on the players as they aim to keep clean sheets and do better in games going forward. Hopefully, we see them keep this up until the end of the season.
“That’s why he’s special. He’s so passionate. He wants to win, he wants clean sheets, he wants us to be better.”
The win against the Peacocks was crucial, as it prevented the side from losing more games in the Premier League. Heading into the game, Tottenham had lost four out of their previous five matches.
“Fantastic manager”
The former Chelsea manager has only been at the club for a few months, but his impact is clearly felt by the players. The Italian is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, and is always animated on the touchline because of his passion for the game.
Son spoke about how the head coach’s passion was infectious in the squad, bringing much positive energy to the side, and said that everyone at the club was happy to work with him.
“We have a fantastic manager. He brings passion, he brings so much positive energy. We are all happy to work with him. I think it’s so, so important we keep this.”
The ex-Inter Milan man is renowned to be a tactical genius, and he has brought his winning system to the Lilywhites to ensure that they turn into world-beaters in time. The head coach is known for playing three at the back, with wide wing-backs pushing forward, and this was on full display in the game against Leeds.
The opening ten minutes of the match brought a goal that saw great involvement from both wing-backs, as Ryan Sessegnon laid the ball on a plate for Matt Doherty to fire into the net. Conte is sure to be pleased about the players taking on his tactics and pulling it off well.

Son is no stranger to hard work, which is why he was full of praise for Conte, who is known to love workhorses in the team who can dedicate themselves fully to the squad. The South Korean’s efforts were rewarded towards the end of the game when he bagged a goal for himself.
The forward will hope that Conte remains at Spurs beyond the summer, as Tottenham look to spend the summer investing in new players for the Italian to add to his squad and mount a long-overdue title challenge next season.
