Antonio Conte gives injury update on Tottenham Hotspur star Ryan Sessegnon after Everton win
Antonio Conte has issued an injury update on Tottenham Hotspur star Ryan Sessegnon after their 5-0 win against Everton in the Premier League on Monday night. The victory saw Spurs close the gap to Arsenal in fourth place, albeit having played a game more.
Tottenham thrashed the Toffees on the night as they ran riot with the help of Harry Kane, who added two more goals to his tally this season. Sessegnon was great as well in the first half and was even involved in the first goal of the game, which saw Michael Keane put the ball into the back of his own net. Unfortunately, the 21-year-old was subbed off during the break causing further concerns regarding his fitness.
Speaking in the post-match press conference (h/t Football.London), Conte has addressed the matter while revealing that a diagnosis will be made tomorrow. The boss is hopeful that the left wing-back has not picked up any serious problems and will return to action soon.
“Ryan Sessegnon we have to make evaluation tomorrow. I hope nothing serious as it is a muscular problem. I hope nothing serious because every time this player is having continuity of performance and then something wrong or little injury.”
Fingers crossed
Injuries have constantly plagued the Englishman since he left Fulham to join us back in 2019. It is really frustrating to see the defender enduring yet another blow, especially when he was looking good and coming into his element.
That has enabled the Tottenham ace to leapfrog Sergio Reguilon, who has fallen down the pecking order, having contracted Covid-19 recently. We are hopeful that Sessegnon has not suffered any serious injury that will throw cold water on his development once again.
We would get the result of the evaluation soon enough based on the timeframe mentioned by the Spurs coach. Let’s hope that the knock would be something minor since Sessegnon was enjoying a run of good form until this recent setback.
