Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane reacts to overtaking Thierry Henry in Premier League all-time list
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Evening Standard) after the 5-0 win over Everton last night, Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane expressed his delight at overtaking Thierry Henry in the list of all-time Premier League goalscorers.
The Englishman fired a brace in the home win against the Toffees in each half of the game as Tottenham looked at their attacking best against a poor opposition who were never really in the game from start to finish.
The 28-year-old broke behind the Everton defence to score his first goal of the night in the first half, before he followed it up with a sublime volley in the second period. The player was virtually unstoppable yesterday, and could very well have bagged a hat-trick if he finished other chances.
The England skipper had Matt Doherty to thank for his goals, with the wing-back turning supplier from the right flank for both strikes. While his first goal equaled Henry’s record of 175 goals in the Premier League, his second one put him clear of the Arsenal legend.
“Nice little milestone”
At 176 goals, Kane is now just one strike behind Everton manager Frank Lampard, and there will be little surprise if he overtakes the Chelsea legend as well. With twelve games to go in the Premier League, the Spurs academy product is sure to add a few more to his tally before the summer.
The Englishman spoke of his delight about going past Henry in an elite list of PL goalscorers, and said that he was happy about setting a nice little milestone for himself with his brace last night.
“Thierry was one of the greatest Premier League strikers we’ve seen, so to go above him now is a nice little milestone.”
For a player that had a difficult start to the campaign and struggled in front of goal, the Englishman ran riot against the Toffees and put them to the sword in magnificent fashion. No one would be able to tell that this was the same player who looked short on confidence just a few weeks back.
The Spurs talisman built on his strike from last week’s Premier League rout of Leeds United to score two more against Everton yesterday to build up a steady stream of goals for himself this season. Last night, we saw shades of the same Kane we were used to seeing over the previous years.

If he keeps up this scoring run, he could very well become only the third player after Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney to score over 200 goals in the Premier League in the coming years. That is no mean feat, and it is a testament to how good the striker has been for Tottenham ever since his debut.
Next weekend sees us take on Manchester United, and we can hope that Kane continues his goal-scoring exploits against a side that, like us, is chasing a top-four spot at the end of the season. A win over the Red Devils will be crucial, and our talisman will bear the responsibility of making sure of it.
