Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte rates their display in 5-0 win vs Everton
Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has provided his thoughts on their impressive display against Everton yesterday. His side dominated the visitors as they beat them emphatically by a 5-0 scoreline in the Premier League fixture yesterday.
Tottenham were dominant throughout the game, although the Toffees did not put much of a fight in the match. That being said, the players put up a strong performance against Frank Lampard’s side, giving them their biggest win of this season so far.
Goals from Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Sergio Reguilon saw off the opponents, with Michael Keane putting one past his own net as well. The performance on the night was one of the best team displays they have enjoyed during the entirety of this term.
Fantastic team display!
Speaking in the post-match interview with the club’s media (h/t Tottenham Hotspur official website), Conte has lauded Spurs for their performance while mentioning that they were great in several aspects of the game. He also conveyed that he loved the “will” and “desire” shown by the players today as they showcased many factors that were worked in the build-up to this fixture.
“It was an important win, a really good performance from my players, we played an amazing game in many aspects, scored five goals and created many chances to improve the score. What I liked tonight was the will, the desire to put onto the pitch the work that we are doing for every game.”
“As I said before, it’s important for us to have more days, because this season I didn’t have the possibility to start with this team, especially during pre-season, when you have one month to work with the players to instil your ideas. Now, after four months and a half, I’m starting to see many, many things that we are trying to work on during the week.”
The North London side really need a splendid performance like this one to get over the disappointment they suffered against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup. That’s not all, as, with the crucial league game against Manchester United on the horizon, we needed a morale boost before travelling to face off against them at Old Trafford.
After all, the next match could determine how the race to the top four places in the league table could shape up to be in the coming months. Hence, it was good to see the Tottenham players giving their best to drop one of our best displays this term.
That being said, what we must now ensure is that we would not fall off once again and continue this “up and down” form, looking at the last six fixtures. We have won three and lost thrice in regular intervals during that period showcasing the inability to maintain consistency.
The clash against Ralf Rangnick’s side would be a perfect opportunity to stamp our claim in the race to achieve Champions League qualification for next season. Despite their struggles, Man United would no doubt prove to be a difficult opponent for us.
