Harry Kane lauds Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte and outlines Manchester United opportunity
According to Daily Mail Online, Harry Kane has lauded Antonio Conte for making him more complete as a player and has also sent a message to Tottenham Hotspur on the “opportunity” that awaits them in the next match against Manchester United. He spoke on the two subjects in an open interview following the impressive hammering of Everton in the Premier League by a 5-0 scoreline.
Kane had gone through a frustrating couple of months before Conte had arrived at N17. His slump was following his failed move to leave Tottenham last summer. However, the striker has looked back to his best over the past two months or so and had recently scored a double against the Toffees in the league. Speaking about the boss, the forward revealed that the coach has helped him to become a more complete footballer.
“Antonio has definitely given me more strings to my bow. I feel like physically I’m in a really good place. Mentally, my game understanding and my awareness on the pitch is at a really high level. The manager is a fantastic coach… I really enjoy working with him.”
The Spurs attacker also conveyed that he senses there is an “opportunity” for his side to get a “great result” against the Red Devils in their next fixture. He has demanded his teammates to build on their impressive display against Frank Lampard’s side to overcome the challenge at Old Trafford.
A turnaround from Kane!
“United are still one of the best teams in the league. Obviously, they have come off a disappointing result at the weekend (against City). We obviously feel that there is an opportunity for us there because we have had a great result and we could try to use that momentum, especially away from home, against their crowd.”
The England skipper has certainly got past his struggles at the start of the season. We have to thank the former Inter Milan manager in that regard, considering how he has helped the centre-forward to recapture his form from last season.
The 28-year-old has 13 goals and three assists under Conte from 24 matches across all competitions. That is a significant improvement to the attacker’s numbers under Nuno Espirito Santo where he scored seven goals and an assist from 14 appearances.
That’s not all, as the Tottenham superstar has also improved in his understanding of the game. The Spurs coach has assisted him to get a better knowledge about when to drop deep and create chances and when to push forward and be a presence in the boss. Should he keep improving in this trajectory, we would be greatly boosted in our pursuit to finish in the top places in the league table.
