Antonio Conte gives latest injury update on Tottenham Hotspur trio ahead of Manchester United clash
According to Football.london, Antonio Conte has provided the latest injury news on Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the game against Manchester United on Saturday. The Premier League fixture will take place at Old Trafford in what could potentially prove to be a six-pointer in the battle for the top four.
Coming into this league match, Tottenham have three injury concerns to take care of against Man United. Ryan Sessegnon had picked up a hamstring injury during the 5-0 thumping of Everton in the previous fixture. Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga have been out for quite a while and have not recovered once again.
Conte gave an update on the Spurs trio in the pre-match press conference for the match on Saturday (h/t Football.London). He said:
“Bad news about Ryan Sessegnon, he had a scan and he has a muscular problem. Maybe we’ll see him after the international break. About Skipp and Tanganga, we are not ready, we have to wait.”
Speaking about Skipp, the Italian boss expressed his frustration and concern on the matter even further. The midfielder has been out of contention with a groin injury for more than two months, and a return date is unavailable.
What’s going on at Tottenham!
“I’m a bit worried because he started with groin pain and then now, we are talking about two months, two months and half, that he is out. A forecast about his return with the team, I don’t have an answer.”
The former Chelsea manager has also chipped in with his thoughts on the recurring hamstring problems that Sessegnon has suffered since joining the North London side. The coach suggested that the wingback could be building his body too much, which is causing the issue.
“Yes, we are not talking about a problem, not a new problem, we are talking about a situation that unfortunately is repeating. For sure we have to try with the medical department to find a solution to help this player, but sometimes also, I think that there is a predisposition to have this type of problem and especially muscular problems. Sometimes maybe to be so strong physically, instead of being good for your body, sometimes it can be a problem.”
Worrying injury signs?
It is frustrating to see how Skipp has not made his recovery even after two months have passed since suffering the blow in January. What makes matters worse is the lack of midfield options in the team. With three choices for the Spurs boss to pick from, an injury or a suspension could greatly affect our depth.
As for Sessegnon, the medical department must help him get over this nagging hamstring issue that has plagued him since he left Swansea City. Recurring problems can be detrimental if a solution is not found quickly enough. With him being out for the entirety of this month, all the promise he has built in the past few matches will lose its momentum.

Tanganga’s case is the least worrying at this point due to the options we have in the centre-back area. However, it is always best to have them as quickly recovered as possible in the case of a worst-case scenario. Let’s hope that the medical department can back the 52-year-old boss by getting them back to full fitness as soon as possible.
The league clash against the Red Devils is one of the crucial matches we will have this season. A win is a must since we could cement our prospect of qualifying for the Champions League. Hence, the players must do their best to get the team over the line at the weekend. Whether that will happen or not remains to be seen.
