Sporting director Fabio Paratici committed to Tottenham Hotspur amidst PSG interest
According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Sporting director Fabio Paratici is committed to the project at Tottenham Hotspur amidst interest from PSG for a potential move. He has been linked with the French giants recently, but this update would be a sigh of relief to the fans and the English club.
Paratici joined Tottenham with a contract length of one and a half years at the start of this season. He is bound to be assessed after that period, following which a decision will be made on the future prospects. Despite that, Paris Saint-Germain has shown an interest in securing his services, although no fresh contacts have been made to make their case.
The Ligue 1 side is likely to relieve their current sporting director Leonardo off his duties in the future. As such, they are on the lookout for replacements resulting in the links to Paratici. They had approached the Spurs director in the past several times and even last summer before he eventually moved to North London.
Good news for Spurs
Paratici still has some way to go before he can fully convince the supporters about his quality. The fans’ doubts are certainly warranted as we did not enjoy a great time in the January transfer window, having lost out on Adama Traore and Luis Diaz to Barcelona and Liverpool respectively.
Moreover, the 49-year-old sporting director also failed to negate the three outgoings in midfield with appropriate reinforcements. The likes of Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele left us in January, and only Rodrigo Bentancur was brought in to add to the depth.
Despite these doubts, the Spurs official is still crucial for us as he is “enthusiastic” about his work at N17. Moreover, he is also delighted to work with Daniel Levy and Antonio Conte to build towards a better future. His previous affiliation with Conte during their time together at Juventus is something we are aspiring to replicate or even improve upon.
After all, both of them had worked together at the start of last decade in helping Juve become the heavyweight they are right now. Replicating that at the North London side would be the stuff of dreams for our fans.
As such, it is good to know that Paratici’s mind is set to stay with us and help with our current cause. Whether his work would bear fruit in the future or not remains to be seen. We are hopeful that is the case as we look to put an end to our title drought with the help of the Italian manager.

If we can be patient with Conte, we must surely be patient with Paratici as well. If another club offers better terms or a better chance at first-team football- or even have bigger clout in the transfer market than us-, then there isn’t a whole lot the Italian can do to help Spurs sign that player, whoever that may be.
In that regard, we must understand the background in which Paratici operates. Spurs’ rise to the top, if it is to come in the next few years, will be gradual. It is impractical to expect instant results and sign every player we are linked with, after all. That being said, the summer window would be an important one in that regard for both the club and Conte.
