Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur to return for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t The Sun), several top clubs are set to return in the summer to try and sign Inter Milan ace Lautaro Martinez, with Tottenham Hotspur one of the interested sides.
Spurs were linked with the striker last summer after the club were worried about talisman Harry Kane departing North London for Manchester City. But the Englishman eventually stayed put and the move for Martinez got nowhere.
Having not signed a replacement striker or backup striker to the England skipper, Tottenham could return for Martinez at the end of the season to convince him to swap Italy for England.
However, their attempts to capture the Inter star could be scuppered by Arsenal, who have identified him as a potential forward option for them ahead of the 2022/23 season. Having lost Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona in January, the Gunners lack an infallible scorer to lead the line.
Guaranteed to have clubs
Although he enjoyed a stellar season last year as the Nerazzurri won the title, Martinez has failed to score in eight of Inter’s nine Serie A games in 2022. The goalscorer has looked out of form and low on confidence this year.
Despite his recent struggles to find the back of the net, it is said that other top clubs are guaranteed and willing to invest in him as he remains a top striker in world football. However, he recently scored a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Salernitana.
Currently, we only have Kane to supply our goals this season. It could also be said that we have been overly reliant on the Englishman for firepower upfront, as we have no other alternatives.
If Martinez decides to move to Tottenham, then the player will also have the advantage of working with Antonio Conte, who he has worked with before at Inter when they won the Serie A title last season.

The Argentine may be having a bad patch of form at the moment, but perhaps a reunion with Conte should do the trick when it comes to rediscovering his form. Hopefully, we see him turn out in white next season in the Premier League.
Between Arsenal and us, we definitely offer Martinez the comfort of working together with a coach he has prior experience with and has won trophies for. If the striker wants a change of scenery to rediscover his form, N17 offers an attractive option for him to do just that.
