Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur interested in Hull City youngster Keane Lewis-Potter
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur, among other Premier League clubs, have registered an interest in Hull City youngster Keane Lewis-Potter, who plays as a forward for the club.
The striker currently plies his trade in the Championship with Hull, who sit 20th in the league table and are in danger of being relegated. Despite the club’s position, the Englishman has been a bright spot for them this season.
His performances for the Tigers have seen him rack up interest from Premier League clubs such as Spurs and West Ham United, who are looking to improve their attacking ranks ahead of the new campaign.
His displays in the second division of the English football pyramid recently saw him earn a call-up to the England U21 side, in what is his first experience in a Three Lions camp and getting the chance to represent his country.
Future goalscoring talent
Lewis-Potter has scored 8 goals for his side as they try to fight relegation and stay in the Championship for yet another season. This is a decent return for a young player who plays in a team that has been struggling all season, which explains the interest from top-flight clubs.
Tottenham will need to make their move quickly to snap up the talented forward, given that he was close to completing a permanent move to Premier League side Brentford in the January transfer window.
Currently, Tottenham are operating with just one senior striker in the team in Harry Kane, and are over-reliant on the England skipper for delivering the goals as they look to push up the Premier League table and finish in fourth place.
A backup or support is needed for Kane to keep up his displays for his boyhood club, otherwise, we risk putting all the pressure and responsibility of scoring on the shoulders of our talisman, even if our striker revels in such pressure. He needs his due rest at times and in those moments, we don’t really have a senior number 9 to bring into the lineup.

Lewis-Potter may be a worthy contender for handling the responsibility of supporting Kane in attack, given his impressive showings in the Championship this season. However, truth be told, we need an experienced striker who can adapt to the top-flight quickly as our backup striker to avoid any risks.
That being said, it would be surprising if Tottenham decide against signing Lewis-Potter in the near future. An international call-up to the U21s side is no small feat, and in the forward, we could have a talent for the future that we could develop and train. But it shouldn’t come at the cost of Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott’s push to first-team football, unless our board really believes the Hull forward would be an upgrade on the young duo.
