Transfer News: Juventus star Paulo Dybala rejects Tottenham Hotspur for PSG
According to the French publication Foot Mercato via AS (h/t The Sun), Juventus star Paulo Dybala has snubbed Tottenham Hotspur for a move to PSG in the summer transfer window. He seems to have made up his mind regarding his next destination if this update is believed to be true.
Dybala will see his current contract expire at the end of this season and is set to leave Allianz Stadium on a free transfer. As such, he can legally reach a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs at this moment. Discussions were held with his current club regarding an extension but to no avail in the end.
The Argentine has been a long term target for Spurs, but he has made up his mind about joining Paris Saint-Germain. Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan have been touted as the other potential destinations, but it seems that they have lost out as well in this transfer race.
Dybala a lost cause?
Despite this transfer blow, the North Londoners could still have a shot at bringing the 28-year-old to N17 after this term. Even if the French side’s sporting director Leonardo is a long term admirer of the player, the managerial uncertainty could complicate things regarding a potential deal in the future.
Mauricio Pochettino’s future is in uncertain waters at this moment, and his exit would affect the prospects of bringing in the Serie A attacker. While the forward is interested in teaming up with Lionel Messi at the French capital, the chances of a transfer would become less likely without Pochettino at the helm.
The London based club could potentially be benefited in such a case, but they will have to wait and see how the situation develops. Then again, it is up to Antonio Conte to demand the signings that he would require after this campaign, and Dybala may not be in it, looking at the squad.

Dybala primarily starts on the right-wing and usually shifts inside to play as a second striker or an attacking midfielder. We have Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura in our ranks, so one may question whether we need the Argentinian at all. While he is world-class, bringing him could disrupt Kulusevksi’s progress as he has been sensational for us.
Kulusevksi has been on fire since joining us this January, and he could become one of the best in his positions in the future if he performs at a similar level. For that to happen, though, he would need consistent minutes to develop his game even further moving forward. Dybala would be a hindrance to his progression as the Bianconeri attacker would take minutes away from him.
So losing out on Dybala may not be a big blow after all, especially when we have other priorities such as bringing in a central midfield, a right-wingback, a striker and even a central defender.
