Tottenham Hotspur on alert as Djed Spence wants Premier League move amidst Manchester United interest
Tottenham Hotspur have been alerted after Djed Spence has revealed that he wants to move to the Premier League amidst interest from Manchester United. He has earned lots of plaudits for his performances while being on loan at Nottingham Forest this season.
Spence’s displays have not gone unnoticed as he made his England U21 debut against Albania yesterday. Several top clubs have also added him to their radar ahead of the summer transfer window. Tottenham and Man United are joined by Arsenal, while Bayern Munich have been scouting him constantly for quite a while.
Speaking after the game against Albania (h/t The Mirror), The Englishman has revealed that he has a dream of playing in the English top-flight in the future. However, the defender did add that he stays grounded despite talks surrounding his future linking him to big clubs across Europe.
“I always want to push myself and play with the best players and best team. Of course, it’s an ambition of mine to play in the Premier League. I try to stay level-headed. I don’t read too much into it. At the end of the day, I’m just here to enjoy my football. I need to stay focused, have tunnel vision and play well on the pitch.”
Spurs given incentive?
Right-wingback is a position that has troubled us throughout this season. That has changed recently following Matt Doherty’s rise as he has looked to be at his best self after leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020. That was not the case before this period, though, which caused concerns for Antonio Conte.
Emerson Royal has failed to live up to the expectations in which he was brought in from Real Betis. He has not even shown any glimpses of the quality that he was famed for during his time in La Liga. As such, we may need to part ways with him even though we signed him at the start of this campaign.

Spence can be a great option, looking at how he has fared at Forest so far. However, we will need to take care of the stern competition to bring him to N17. With the Red Devils now entering the race, there is all the chance that things would heat up in the months to come if he continues to perform on this trajectory.
We are lining up a £20million move for the Middlesbrough fullback alongside the Gunners in the summer transfer window. He still has a contract until 2024, so it remains to be seen whether that bid would be enough to prise away the youngster. Let’s hope that we can facilitate a move as we need to strengthen the squad in multiple areas in our pursuit to finally put an end to our trophy drought.
