Tottenham Hotspur likely to make a fresh approach for Juventus star Weston McKennie
According to Alasdair Gold, the club’s correspondent for Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur are likely to approach Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie for a potential transfer in the future. He has been a regular for his side throughout this season but is currently out with a metatarsal injury.
Fabio Paratici is a keen admirer of McKennie, having brought him to Allianz Stadium when he was at Juve. As such, the Tottenham director had held discussions with the player’s camp regarding a potential move in the January transfer window. However, both parties realised that any deal would have been difficult at that time.
However, it is stated that Paratici is likely to return once again in the future as the summer transfer window draws close. Spurs could approach the US international’s representatives to hold talks yet again in the future, but it remains to be seen if a summer move would be on the cards or not.
Another Juventus raid?
After a bright start of life in his first season at Turin, the 23-year-old has seen himself fall off in his second campaign so far. However, much of it can be down to the Bianconeri‘s own problems, which have affected the team as a whole.
That is evident considering how Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur have performed for us since their respective moves back in January. There were concerns within the fanbase about their quality as they too struggled in Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
Perhaps, a summer move to N17 could help McKennie recapture his lost form. The Serie A club’s stance on the matter is unclear, so we have to wait and see how this situation turns out moving forward. However, adding him to our ranks would be a great move as we do need a central midfielder in our ranks.
Even if Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele could return to the North London side, their future is pretty much over, considering how Antonio Conte allowed them to leave in the first place. That leaves Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Harry Winks and Bentancur as our options by this summer.

While this crop of players provides a good blend of midfield quality and competition, the depth can still be questioned. After all, we would probably look to challenge for silverware under Conte, so we need at least one more signing to safeguard our interests in case of injuries or suspensions.
Skipp’s current injury is a perfect example, as our options were thinned when Bentancur also joined him on the stands. We cannot afford to see a repeat once again, as it could derail our season in the future. McKennie would be a great choice in such a case, but only time will tell if he would join us moving forward or not.
