Tottenham Hotspur target Lautaro Martinez could leave Inter Milan due to unrest this summer
According to the Italian news outlet Calciomercato (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Lautaro Martinez could leave Inter Milan due to unrest at the end of this season. This update could potentially give the English club the initiative to push for a potential move this summer.
Martinez is supposedly unhappy with how his current situation has unravelled at Inter. He has fallen down the pecking order despite having a solid goal involvement tally in this term so far. Edin Dzeko has pipped him to take over the starting position, which has led to his frustrations. This news would give Tottenham a boost given their interest in the Argentine.
Arsenal and Manchester United have also expressed their intentions alongside Spurs to secure Martinez’s services in the future. It is claimed that the interested parties could prompt the Nerazzurri to sell the striker if a bid worth £60million is put forth in the summer transfer window.
Spurs handed opportunity?
If this update is believed to be true, then the North London side should try their best to prise the Argentine international away this summer. We may not receive another opportunity like this in the future, so they should look to take advantage of this latest development.
While we require reinforcement in the centre-forward
While we require reinforcement in the centre-forward department, one would wonder whether the Serie A ace would be willing to move to N17. After all, Harry Kane would obviously be the starter which means that Martinez may have to accept a subdued role.
That alone reduces our chances, as it is unrealistic to expect someone who can be a regular elsewhere to accept a less prominent role within our squad. That is especially the case when the Gunners and Man United are currently vying to get their hands on Martinez. Both of them need strikers in their ranks, which means that he could earn more minutes with them.
While Antonio Conte being our manager is an attractive prospect, it is still not enough of a reason to accept a backup role when the attacker is dispirited with a similar situation with the Milan based club. Then again, Conte being the South American’s previous manager, could potentially lend us an advantage in this transfer race.

One could also say that the Spurs boss could use Martinez alongside Kane as a striker duo. However, following Dejan Kulusevski’s January arrival and Son Heung-Min being in the squad, that might not be the best use of our attacking resources.
It would need to be seen how this situation would pan out in the coming months ahead of the summer transfer window. There are quite a lot of reasons that act against our interests, but a move can never be ruled out unless confirmations are received.
