Agent shuts down talks of a rift between Victor Osimhen and Napoli amidst Tottenham Hotspur links
Roberto Calenda has firmly shut down talks of a rift between Victor Osimhen and Napoli amidst links to Tottenham Hotspur for a potential summer transfer. The striker has enjoyed another solid campaign with his side helping them to be in contention to win the Serie A title.
Osimhen has been linked with a move to join Tottenham alongside Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window. Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News) claimed earlier that his relationship with the Serie A club has become complicated. That is because of the dressing room issues caused by the attacker after returning late from international duty.
However, his agent has now come out and denied these suggestions. Speaking to Radio Marte, as quoted by Corriere dello Sport via Football Italia (h/t Manchester Evening News), Calenda has expressed that it is pretty clear how strong of a connection the 23-year-old has with the Italian side. He even added that the striker is currently happy with his life with them.
Transfer blow for Spurs
“There are no problems. Victor has already proved his close bond with this club. I don’t want to waste time talking about this, the situation is ridiculous. Just move on and talk about football. Everyone is happy about how things are going, Napoli are a precise choice for the striker’s development, as a man and as a footballer.”
The Nigerian’s representative also conveyed that all these suggestions are just made up to fill the papers. The agent further added that the forward is committed to Gli Azzurri, and his mind is fully set on completing the current season and fighting for the league.
“Osimhen is focused on the pitch, he wants to win and he is showing the right commitment. He plays for a strong team and journalists need to fill the papers’ pages. He is a Napoli player and he will face seven finals now. The focus is all on the current campaign.”
It seems that we do not have any chance to prise him away from Italy in an attempt to bring him to North London. After all, his agent firmly has suggested that the attacker is currently content with his life with Luciano Spalletti’s side.
One could say that the African’s agent is perhaps trying to raise the offers it would take for the centre-forward to depart Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. However, that seems not to be the case, considering how the attacker himself swept aside the links to the four Premier League sides.

That is not surprising since our current need for a striker is for a backup role to Harry Kane. Unless our talisman leaves in the future, there is no need for Antonio Conte’s side to pursue targets who would normally be a starter at some other top clubs. Not to mention, we can also rule out Conte’s two-man striker partnership that he used in Inter Milan.
After all, with Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kulusevski being the wingers, it would be a waste to let them sit on the bench. As such, we should not pay heed to any more links to Osimhen unless reliable sources provide us with such information.
