Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur eye Juventus star Juan Cuadrado this summer
According to transfer expert Rudy Galetti on Tribal Football (h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are looking to secure the services of Juventus star Juan Cuadrado in the summer transfer window, having already raided the Italian club in January.
Deadline day of the winter transfer window in January saw Spurs complete a double signing of forward Dejan Kulusevski and midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur from Juve, after the English side went nearly the whole month without singing any new players.
While Kulusevski was brought to N17 on an extended loan spell that lasts until the end of next season, Bentancur was signed permanently. Both players have since become first-choice under manager Antonio Conte, adapting and settling into the Premier League quickly.
Now, it seems as though the north London club could head back to Serie A in the summer to complete one more signing from the Bianconeri, as Conte looks to add more quality to his squad ahead of a new campaign.
Raid Juventus once again
This time, football director Fabio Paratici is said to be keen on signing Cuadrado from his former club, with the player out of contract at the end of the season and could be available as a free agent as things stand.
Tottenham have already ‘entered dialogue‘ to secure the 33-year-old’s signature, but the Colombia international is keen on staying with Juve and continuing his career in Turin, where he has had much success. Before that, he had an unsuccessful spell at Chelsea.
The player may be 33, but it is easy to see why Spurs are keen on signing the player ahead of the new campaign. The Colombian is extremely versatile, capable of playing either in midfield or defence, proving to be very effective when deployed on the wings.
Having played for Chelsea before, where he won the Premier League and League Cup- albeit without playing a big role as a first-team player, he knows what it takes to thrive in the English top-flight first-hand. This could be an opportunity for him to show that he can be a star in the PL as well.
The last Chelsea player to leave Stamford Bridge and make a name for himself in Serie A before being a superstar in England was Mohamed Salah. It is unfair to expect the same out of Cuadrado but playing down the same flank, there is no reason why he can’t make a big impact at SPurs- if he joins us.

With a right-back necessary in the current squad as neither Matt Doherty nor Emerson Royal have proven that they have what it takes to nail down the spot for themselves, Cuadrado would not only bring in some quality but also some experience into the team – if we were to sign the player.
For a player of his talent, it would be a smart piece of transfer business if Spurs manage to snap him up in the summer for free. Paratici has used his prior connection with Juventus to manage transfer dealings in the past, and could perhaps pull off another signing in the form of Cuadrado ahead of the new campaign.
