Tottenham Hotspur loanee Bryan Gil responds to Valencia fans’ calls for stay past this summer
Tottenham Hotspur loanee Bryan Gil has responded by sending a message to Valencia fans regarding their calls for him to stay past this summer. He has performed really well at Mestalla so far, having moved there on loan back in the January transfer window.
Gil had a difficult first half in this campaign at Tottenham as he struggled to cope with the physicality in the Premier League. That saw his fall down the pecking order, and it reached a point where it was best for the winger to go out on loan for the rest of this term.
That seems to have done well as the Spaniard has quickly become a starter for Jose Bordalas’ side. He has quickly become a fan favourite among Los Murcielagos supporters as a result of his fine displays. The fans have even called out to him to stay with them past the end of the current season.
Speaking in an interview with the Spanish news outlet Marca (h/t Football.London), the 21-year-old has addressed the matter with a vague response to the supporters. He has conveyed that nobody knows about his future at this moment as a decision would only be made this summer.
“There are very nice games left and experiences that we are going to live before the end of the season, which is why it is better to think about those games than what will happen next. Nobody knows what can happen tomorrow and it will be decided in the summer is the only thing that I can say.”
What lies next for Gil?
Despite the Spurs loanee garnering just one assist from his 12 appearances for the La Liga side, one cannot deny the fact that he has played well under Bordalas. His current boss is known for his physically demanding effort from his players, which certainly bodes well for us as it would get Gil accustomed to Antonio Conte’s tactics.
However, a stay at Valencia or a return to N17 is far from being decided at this stage, as the Spanish forward has confirmed that a final decision will only be made this summer. However, with Son Heung-Min and Steven Bergwijn being the options on the left-wing, it is difficult to see Gil earn regular minutes under Conte.

As such, we should perhaps entertain approaches from Valencia if they want to extend Gil’s loan spell by another year. However, we should not facilitate any permanent transfer as the Tottenham loanee has the potential to become a future superstar. Until then, we hope to see the attacker doing well in the rest of this term.
