PSG still prefer to sign Zinedine Zidane over Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte
According to The Times [Subscription Required] (h/t The Sun), PSG still prefer to secure the signature of Zinedine Zidane over Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte. This news would give a sigh of relief to the English club and would boost their hopes of keeping hold of the man in charge.
It has been claimed recently that Mauricio Pochettino would be fired from his coaching role at Paris despite helping his side to reclaim the Ligue 1 title. As such, Conte has offered himself as a potential option, and he is willing to accept a two-year contract to test himself with the French club.
Supposedly, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to listen to Conte’s proposal, but their priority target remains to be Zidane. They want to convince the latter to join them rather than looking to become the successor to Didier Deschamps for the French national team following the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Could Spurs lose Conte?
It is highly advisable that this piece of information is taken with a pinch of salt since Conte himself has previously said that he would like to stay at N17 past this summer. That being said, the Italian did give a condition that Daniel Levy must show the ambition to win silverware and back him to achieve that target.
There have not been any indications that the condition has been broken, considering how the summer transfer window is yet to arrive. After all, it is only at that point that we can understand whether Levy intends to match Conte’s aspirations or not past this term.
As such, we should not pay much heed to these claims that Conte has proposed his services to the Ligue 1 side. Then again, it is good to see that they do not prefer him right now, going by this update. We would hope that Zidane would agree to join them to put an end to these so-called talks.
Supposedly, it has also been stated that Pochettino could return to North London amidst the “uncertainty” surrounding Conte. However, we must move past Poch’s time with us, even if he was not given adequate support to build on the golden generation.

We have finally been handed an opportunity to make use of a world-class coach in Conte who has brought success at his previous clubs. He can do the same this time around, but for that to happen, the management and the players must be on a similar page.
Let’s hope that we finally attain cohesion and harmony within the squad so as not to allow opportunities for such talks to arise.
