Alasdair Gold: Antonio Conte has no Tottenham Hotspur exit clause amidst PSG interest
According to Alasdair Gold, the club’s correspondent for Football.London, there is no exit clause in the contract of Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte amidst talks of his future prospects. This news would gladly be welcomed by the officials at the English club, especially after the recent slump in form.
Conte has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, while the PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has been touted as a potential target for Tottenham recently. However, the former’s camp have firmly denounced those claims as mere rumours, while Pochettino’s entourage have stated that there have been little to no talks with Daniel Levy and co.
Conte is set to hold talks with Spurs chairman Levy and Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici over the future plans this summer. The boss would expect the club to back him moving forward, and the result of that meeting could determine his fate past this season. However, with no break clause in his contract, he could stay with the English side if adequate support is received.
Spurs can breathe easy!
It is good to know that the links to the Ligue 1 side are merely speculations, as it would have been a damning sight to see us lose Conte without even enjoying one full season with him. What’s more, the lack of an exit clause shows that both parties did not have any plans to part ways before the contract had expired.
That is a good decision indeed, although it remains to be seen how the meeting will turn out once this term ends this summer. We are hopeful that the club and the Italian boss can reach common ground over the future plans as it would be in the best interests of all the parties.
AS Roma have been touted as a potential destination for the 52-year-old coach if he departs London after the current campaign. We are optimistic about not seeing such an outcome, considering the vast improvements we have made in such a short time.
The North London side have lacked stability in the coaching role over the past few years as they changed from Poch to Jose Mourinho to Nuno Espirito Santo and Conte at this moment. That is without considering how Ryan Mason also had a short spell as an interim manager at the helm.

Hence, another change would be the last thing we want as it would waste all the foundations that have been achieved under Conte till now. While there have been slip-ups along the way, no one can say that he has not improved the squad despite only bringing in Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur in January.
It is obvious that considerable improvements in quality have to be made across the ranks, so one would wonder how much we can improve if that is the case. Hence, Conte staying with us is crucial in ensuring that we have a genuine chance to end this trophy drought once and for all. Let’s hope that the hierarchy realises the situation and back the man in charge moving forward.
