Bruno Lage values Tottenham Hotspur target Ruben Neves at a whopping £100 million
Speaking in his pre-match presser as quoted by Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Bruno Lage has issued a huge £100 million fee for Tottenham Hotspur linked ace Ruben Neves. It is believed that the Portuguese star is also a priority target for Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal.
The 25-year-old midfielder has been on the radar of the ‘big six’ clubs in the PL and a mainstay in the midfield at the Molineux outfit. The Portuguese international has played 207 matches, bagging 24 goals and 12 assists in the process for them to date.
He has continued to grow in strength ever since Wolves got promoted to England’s top flight in 2018. Hence one can understand why the Wolverhampton-based club would be reluctant to let go of their prized asset with two years still remaining on his current deal.
Lage highlighted the importance of Neves in his current setup, proposing that the player has an astronomical value. The Portuguese boss also hinted that he has a good relationship with the player.
‘We need to be ready for everything. A player like Ruben Neves has a value of £100m. Anything can happen, not just with Ruben. We need to wait for an offer, we don’t have nothing, we need to wait for an offer and understand what (will) really happen. What is good for the club, good for the player.’
Humongous fee attached to Spurs target
Tottenham Hotspur are currently fighting for a top-four finish in the PL. While Antonio Conte has done a great job at Hotspur Way so far, one feels like there is still a lot of progress to be made if we are to challenge for titles on a regular basis.
The North Londoners saw more outgoing in the last transfer window with Bryan Gil, Giovani Lo Celso, and Tanguy Ndombele all departing on loan. We even saw Dele Alli leave the club on a permanent deal to Everton during that period with Rodrigo Bentacur and Dejan Kulusevksi the only incomings.
Spurs could thus be urged to splash the cash in the summer to back their Italian manager. Neves could help add great sturdiness in the middle of the park, and his ability to move the ball forward could also help us transition defence into attack at a faster rate.
The former Porto man also has the knack of picking up some crucial goals despite taking up deeper positions in midfield. The 25-year-old player has also been deployed as a central midfielder on several occasions but predominantly plays as a defensive midfielder.

Whilst the club could certainly use some of his attributes, the price tag associated with him, coupled with the interest from other clubs could be a grave obstacle should we diligently pursue him. Hence, the club should be very careful should they try and make any move for Ruben Neves in the near future.
