Conte reveals what he told Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min before his stunner against Leicester City
According to The Independent, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte notified Son Heung-min that he would be substituted before he scored the world-class goal against Leicester City.
Bagging 20 goals and nine assists in 41 appearances, Son Heung-min continues to be one of the most influential players in the Tottenham team. Irrespective of who is in charge, the South Korean international continues to put up one good performance after another.
Son gave arguably his most effective display of the season during their crucial 3-1 victory against Leicester City yesterday in the Premier League. After setting up Harry Kane’s opener, the South Korean striker doubled the lead with a goal at the hour mark. Later that night, the 29-year-old scored a stunner from 20-yard away that curled into the top corner.
In the post-match press conference, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte revealed that he notified the forward three minutes before the stunning goal that he would be substituted. It is fair to say that Son wanted to leave with a bang.
“I gave him a big hug because, after an amazing goal, my question was which is his favourite foot, right or left? He scored a fantastic goal, and three minutes before, when I spoke with him, I said, “Go for five or six minutes and then I have to make a change”.
How important is Son Heung-min for Tottenham?
Son was this season’s highest scorer for Tottenham for several weeks before Harry Kane grabbed the accolade recently. He now trails the English skipper by a solitary strike.
Son and Kane’s partnership has seen them become one of the most influential duos in the Premier League. Those two players make a significant difference for Spurs’ fortunes and could dictate their top-four chances.

Fans were little concerned to see Son miss out on goal in two consecutive matches. But, it seems the South Korean has made his comeback with a bang.
His ability to score with both feet makes him a crucial asset for Tottenham. If he continues producing such exceptional performances, Spurs would be able to secure favourable results in the remaining four matches, which will eventually help the team get Champions League qualification for next season.
