Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur squad will receive bonuses for achieving Champions League qualification
According to Daily Mail Online, Antonio Conte and the Tottenham Hotspur squad are in line to receive monetary bonuses if they can qualify for next season’s Champions League. The decision from Daniel Levy to incentivise their top-four pursuit could potentially give them the end result that they desire to reach.
Tottenham are locked horns with Arsenal at this moment as both North London clubs look to achieve CL qualification. The former will split around £3.5million in cash if they can make it into the prestigious competition for the next term. The amount will be shared on a pro-rata basis based on appearances and the minutes played.
Conte is also in line to receive a cash windfall of around £2million, with several Spurs players also negotiating CL qualification clauses in their contracts. Whether the team can make use of this added incentive to push for a top-four finish in the Premier League table or not remains to be seen in the coming months.
Top four race heats up!
The decision from Levy to include such financial clauses is a great choice indeed, as its impact certainly cannot be taken lightly. After all, such options could potentially give the team a mental boost, which could push them to achieve their objectives for the season.
That could be really useful under the current circumstances as we are set to face off against Liverpool and the Gunners in succession. These two league fixtures could potentially determine our fate in terms of CL qualification and we need to be at our best selves to overcome these stern challenges.
Perhaps, the importance of achieving CL would further be heightened for Conte and the players, which would certainly bode well for our interests. What’s more, including such clauses would not hurt us in any sort of way as it would only be triggered if the objective is met.
Should that happen, the players would be in line to receive a large windfall anyway, which would negate the expenses the North London side would incur through such clauses. Now let’s wait and see whether these incentives would give us an edge in this top-four race or not in the future.
It will be interesting to see whether we will see a positive outcome regarding this matter at the end of the current campaign. Even though Mikel Arteta’s side has a more lucrative bonus, we remain hopeful that our players can raise their level to take on the obstacles in their pathway, however tough it may seem to be.

In an ideal scenario, players would be motivated enough to make the top four without any financial clauses. And perhaps that is already the case, given the kind of exposure, fame, and money that the players can know they can achieve either directly or indirectly by playing in the UCL for a top club like Spurs.
