Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur rival Juventus to sign Brighton star Marc Cucurella
According to the Italian publication TuttoJuve (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur will battle it out with Juventus to sign Brighton star Marc Cucurella in the summer transfer window. He is one of the best performers in the Premier League in his position this season, having moved to England only at the start of the last term.
Tottenham are expected to engage in transfer dealings this summer as they look to back Antonio Conte in an attempt to keep him at N17. They are laying down the foundations to strengthen their ranks with signings as they look to become title challengers in a short period.
Spurs have identified Cucurella as one of their options to bolster their squad for the next campaign. However, they will now have to deal with the added competition from Juve, who are going through a rebuilding phase of their own under Massimiliano Allegri.
Cucurella, good option for Spurs?
The 23-year-old has been one of the best performers for Brighton and Hove Albion throughout this season. That is the case even if he only has two assists to his name during this period from 35 matches across all competitions.
Perhaps the former Barcelona man’s displays are best rated by the fact that he has posted one of the best numbers in his role in shot-creating actions, progressive passes and pressures per 90 minutes according to fbref (h/t Football.London).
That makes him a suitable addition who could match Antonio Conte’s demanding playstyle in the wide areas. We may end up needing reinforcements anyway, with the North London side looking to accept proposals for Sergio Reguilon in the summer transfer window.

Reguilon has shown promise under Conte, but he failed to take the next step so far, even when Ryan Sessegnon was out on the stands with an injury. That could potentially open up a spot for Cucurella if the former Real Madrid man ends up leaving elsewhere.
As for Sessegnon, we need to be wary of his fitness problems that have constantly affected his hamstring throughout his time with us. That gives us all the more reason to target Cucurella ahead of the next season.
However, with the Bianconeri causing issues in our pursuit, we would need to raise our efforts to get our hands on the Seagulls ace. However, we have to wait and see whether Graham Potter’s side would sell the Spaniard after only joining them last summer.
