Transfer News: Leicester City raise efforts to beat Tottenham Hotspur for Gleison Bremer
According to The Sun, Leicester City have ramped up their efforts to beat Tottenham Hotspur for signing Gleison Bremer in the summer transfer window. He is one of the most sought-after central defenders in world football right now, which makes up for an interesting couple of months ahead.
Leicester chiefs recently held a meeting with Torino to discuss a potential move to sign Bremer this summer. The English side are hoping to tempt the Serie A club by using Dennis Praet to finalise a double deal. The Turin-based club are interested in keeping Praet on loan for another season as they cannot afford to pay £12.85million for his permanent transfer.
However, the Foxes are now planning to convince the Italian side to sell Bremer, which would give them the money for Praet’s permanent signing. They even scouted him again recently in the 1-0 loss to Napoli, which would be a concerning piece of news for Tottenham.
Concerns for Spurs?
Bremer being a strong and imposing left-sided centre-back makes him a perfect fit for Spurs, considering how they could use someone in that role at this moment. Ben Davies is currently deputising in that role as Antonio Conte seems to not prefer Joe Rodon or Davinson Sanchez in that position.
While Davies has done a great job, it is always better to have a natural option, which makes Bremer a kind of necessity for us. The Torino star commands a decent fee of £40million at this moment, which is still reasonable after looking at the heightened demand for his services.
After all, the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton and AC Milan are also pursuing the Brazilian’s signature at this moment. Now with Brendan Rodger’s side looking to steal a march on their transfer rivals, we need to be wary, considering how they are trying to use Torino’s interest to keep Praet to their advantage.
The North Londoners must bring Bremer to N17 in the summer transfer window, especially if there are plans to challenge for silverware in the next term. After all, we need a good depth in quality in the centre-back position considering how Conte utilises a three at the back system.

The 25-year-old would undoubtedly be a valuable addition to our ranks as he is among the best central defenders in Serie A right now. After all, his contributions have played a major role in helping Torino build the fifth-best defence in Serie A.
Bremer’s aggressive playstyle would complement Cristiano Romero and Eric Dier in the backline, so we are hoping that the club realises the opportunity and finalises a transfer at the earliest. As for Leicester’s increased efforts, it remains to be seen what stance Torino would take regarding this matter.
