Transfer News: Inter Milan star and Chelsea target Ivan Perisic accepts Tottenham Hotspur offer
According to The Guardian, Ivan Perisic has agreed to a two-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur after a convincing call with Antonio Conte.
Despite being 33 years old, Perisic has had a decent spell for Inter Milan in the recent campaign scoring 10 goals and providing 9 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions. He has also helped them win the Serie A title under Antonio Conte but fell short to AC Milan this season.
Ivan Perisic’s current contract is set to end next month and the 33-year-old has no intentions of signing a new deal. Amid such a situation, he has attracted interest from Premier League heavyweights Tottenham and Chelsea. Even though the competition was tough, Antonio Conte’s presence at Spurs has made a difference in his final decision.
It is believed that the Italian manager even called him to talk to him about the project and communicated with him about his urge to work with the Croatian star again. It seems the conversation has gone in the right direction for the North London team as the 33-year-old has agreed to join them after his contract ends with Inter next month.
How can Perisic help Tottenham?
Perisic’s attacking instinct has helped him produce a lot for the team down the left flank. He is an agile, hardworking team player which makes him a suitable match for Conte’s team. The Croatian has a lot of experience playing in the big leagues which would certainly help him adapt to the Premier League environment.
Antonio Conte has mostly switched between Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilón during his tenure at the club. As full-back Ben Davies has been deployed in a central defensive role, the manager might be better off with a quality addition down the left-hand side.
Perisic flourished under Antonio Conte at Inter and was lively on the pitch. Such a manager-player partnership sometimes brings great results and the Spurs fans would hope that the same happens with the potential arrival of the Croatian.

The free transfer makes it a reasonable deal for Tottenham as they would be able to invest the saved up money on other priority requirements. But, of course, it is best to wait for any official announcements regarding any deal involving the former Bayern Munich winger.
At his age, he can bring much-needed experience and calmness to the team. He is a player Conte has worked with and if he wants him at N17, then it is best that our board backs him.
