Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur are willing to sell Harry Winks on a cut-price deal this summer
According to The Sunday People [Print Edition] (h/t ChronicleLive), Tottenham Hotspur are willing to sell Harry Winks on a cut-price deal in the upcoming summer transfer window. He has struggled to get regular game time under Antonio Conte, leading to this situation.
Conte wants to set things up as early as possible for their transfer business which is one of his priorities for this summer. There are plans to raise funds and free up spots for the new arrivals at the beginning of this season. As such, they have put up Winks on the market, having deemed him dispensable at this point.
Tottenham have set a £15million asking price for Winks’ signature, which is quite cheap indeed. He has already attracted interest from Newcastle United and Southampton as both Premier League sides look to get their hands on the central midfielder.
Isn’t the fee too cheap?
Earlier this week, Daily Mail Online had stated that Spurs are open to parting ways with the 26-year-old for offers between £20million and £25million this summer. However, it appears that they have further reduced their demands as they look to facilitate a potential transfer.
Perhaps, this latest stance could be down to their attempt to raise some quick money rather than stretching things out throughout the summer transfer window. That is certainly a possibility as it would always be best to have a clear idea about the available budget before making moves in the market.
That does make sense considering how the North London club are also ready to endure massive losses on Giovani Lo Celso, having set a meagre €20million valuation for his services despite his impressive spell at Villarreal, according to Fabrizio Romano. Their decision does match this latest update on Winks which could be a possible hint at their intentions.

If Winks does depart N17 this summer, we must bring in an adequate replacement as we are left quite thinned in midfield. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp would be the only available options for Antonio Conte, which is not ideal in a long season.
Lo Celso could also join Winks, while Tanguy Ndombele is unlikely to stay, having been allowed to leave the club in the January transfer window. Hence, it is important to make sure that our depth is not affected, as that could be detrimental to our success moving forward.
