Sevilla contemplating a summer swoop for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Winks
According to The Sun, Sevilla are currently assessing their options to raid Tottenham Hotspur for Harry Winks in the summer transfer window. He has struggled to break into the first team lineup under Antonio Conte, which has cast doubts on his future at N17.
Now, Winks has attracted attention from the Spanish club as they are considering whether to target the central midfielder or not this summer. Tottenham have already conveyed to him that he is free to leave the club after falling out of favour under Conte. He is no longer in the boss’ plans as such, leading to this situation.
The La Liga side could enter the transfer race if they believe Winks can be useful for them in the future. However, they would have to deal with Fulham and Everton, who are tipped to be potential destinations for the midfielder. Southampton is another club where he could move to, although their priorities lie elsewhere right now.
Good for Spurs!
The England international failed to get meaningful minutes over the past few months despite Oliver Skipp being out of contention with a long-term injury. That shows how Conte does not value Winks at all since the boss only had two other options in Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Skipp’s eventual return would have made life more difficult for Winks, while the North London side are also planning to sign another central midfielder. As such, there is no reason to keep hold of Winks any longer, especially since we do not need too many options since Conte utilises only a two-man pairing in the centre of the pitch.
Hence, Sevilla’s entry would only favour us as it could potentially lead to a transfer tussle between the other interested parties. A bidding war could follow if all of them are keen to sign Winks to add to their squad ahead of the next campaign.

For that to happen, though, Julen Lopetegui’s side must register their interest as they are only contemplating their options as of now. The 26-year-old is valued only at £20million at this moment, but perhaps we could raise that fee after getting an idea about the degree of interest from all these clubs.
After all, getting the best out of Winks’ sale would only help us bring in our desired targets this summer. That means raising funds to make the budget favourable for us, which would certainly be boosted if we can sell the academy graduate for a fair bit of price. Whether that will happen or not, though, remains to be seen.
