Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur rival Juventus in pursuit of Torino star Gleison Bremer
According to the Italian media outlet Calciomercato.it (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur are battling it out with Juventus in pursuit of Torino star Gleison Bremer for facilitating a transfer move. He has been immense for his side throughout this season, which has played a part in the increased attention for his services.
Antonio Conte is eager to strengthen his defensive system ahead of the next campaign. Tottenham are searching the market for a centre-back for that reason, with a particular onus given to Serie A due to Conte being well knowledgeable about the league. As such, they have turned their eyes towards Bremer and are trying to sign him this summer.
However, Spurs will face hefty competition from Juve, who are keen to get their hands on the Brazilian defender as well. That being said, the English club have been a long-standing admirer of his qualities which means that they would do their best to get hold of the centre-half this summer.
Bremer would be a great addition!
Bringing the 25-year-old to North London would greatly boost our defence which does need some reinforcements ahead of the next term. Even though Conte has tightened up the backline since joining us in November, a lot of improvements still have to be made before becoming one of the best across Europe.
Conte has often depended upon a three-man backline comprising Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies. However, the latter is primarily a left-back which means that it would be best to use someone who is a natural central defender, unlike Davies.
Furthermore, we also need to have a good depth in our squad, especially when we would be a part of the next season’s Champions League as well. Our current options, like Joe Rodon, could leave the club, while Japhet Tanganga is not always reliable due to his tendency to make mistakes at the back.
Bremer, who was awarded the Best Defender in Serie A trophy for the 2021-22 campaign, would undoubtedly improve the team’s quality if he is signed. That would, in turn, force others to raise their level as well, which would be beneficial to instil a healthy competition within the squad.
However, we would need to deal with the Bianconeri, who are looking to freshen things up in their ageing backline. They will lose Giorgio Chiellini this summer, and replacing him would be difficult indeed, while Leonardo Bonucci is close to the end of his playing career as well.

In such a case, Massimiliano Allegri’s side would be desperate for some addition, and they would pose heavy competition to us for Bremer’s signature. We have to wait and see how this situation will turn out in the coming weeks, but the fans would hope for a positive outcome in the future.
