Inter Milan closing on signing the replacement for Tottenham Hotspur target Alessandro Bastoni
According to Tuttomercatoweb, via Juvefc.com (h/t Football.London), Inter Milan have reached a personal agreement with Gleison Bremer, who is expected to replace Tottenham Hotspur target Alessandro Bastoni at the Giuseppe Meazza.
The Italian has become a crucial asset for Inter Milan in recent campaigns and is a first team regular when fit. After helping his team win the 2020/21 Scudetto, he has continued to impress under Simone Inzaghi. Bastoni played 44 matches across all competitions for the Nerazzurri last season.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with Bastoni for quite some time. The Italian defender played under current Spurs manager Antonio Conte at Inter and might be keen to rejoin him at the North London club.
However, considering that the 23-year-old is among Inter’s best players, it is ntom easy for Tottenham to force Inter’s hand. Furthermore, the Italian defender has years left on his contract which makes it even harder for Tottenham to land their man.
But now it is believed that Inter have reached a personal agreement with Gleison Bremer for a wage bill of €3million (£2.5million) per season. Now it will be up to both clubs to finalise the deal. The Brazilian is expected to be the replacement for Bastoni and his arrival would certainly help the Italian team deal with Tottenham for their young centre-back.
How can Bastoni help Tottenham?
Tottenham have been playing with three central defensive formations in the back in the Conte era. Even though Christian Rmero’s emergence as a top defender has helped, they are still short of one proper central defender who can take the place of fullback Ben Davies in the backline.
Antonio Conte has done well with the team and has led them to Champions League qualification. But to compete for titles, the manager will need more depth and that’s why reinforcement is required this summer.
Bastoni has strong technical skills and tactical knowledge to thrive in a back three. Having played under Conte, he knows the system very well and might be comfortable adapting. His maturity would help our team’s defensive contingent, resulting in better results.

After securing Bremer, Inter might be much more comfortable in having a conversation with the Tottenham hierarchy about the transfer of Bastoni. Our board must ready a top-notch offer until that point and should wait for the right moment to strike the deal.
